The 11th match of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa was played today between the women’s teams of Australia and Sri Lanka at St George’s Park, Gqeberha. Australia captain Meg Lanning won the toss today and decided to field first considering the condition of the wicket.

Batting first, the Sri Lankan team scored 113 runs in 20 overs, which Australia achieved the target of 113 runs in 15.5 overs without losing wickets.

Australia’s wicketkeeper and opening batsman Alyssa Healy was awarded the player of the match award after stumping three batsmen behind the wicket in the first innings and scoring 54 not out in the second innings.

Electing to bat, Sri Lanka’s opening pair Harshita and skipper Chamira Attapattu got off to a fine start, putting on a 30-run partnership with the duo batting composedly in front of Australia’s lethal bowling.

In the fifth over, Captain Atapattu was caught out on a score of 30 runs, he scored 16 runs with the help of two fours and a six.

Sri Lanka scored 38 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the first 6 overs of the power play and also completed the team’s first 50 runs in 42 balls.

Sri Lanka were 56 for 1 in the first 10 overs till drinks were played. Harshita Madhavi 27 and Vishmi Gunaratne were playing on a personal score of 11 runs.

Sri Lanka’s 100 runs were completed in 109 balls. Sri Lanka’s team scored 112 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs and set a target of 113 runs to win in front of Australia.

Harshita Madhavi, Vishmi Gunaratne and captain Chamari Atapattu scored the most runs for Sri Lanka, all three scored 34, 24 and 16 runs respectively.

Megan Schutt took the most wickets from Australia, she took important 4 wickets of Sri Lanka. Apart from them, Grace Harris got two wickets, Ellyse Perry and Georgia Wareham got one wicket each.

Openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney, who came out to bat for Australia, did tremendous batting. Taking advantage of the powerplay, both scored 38 runs in the first 6 overs without losing a wicket.

Alyssa Healy was on 27 and Beth Mooney was on 24 when she completed her first 50 in Australia in 46 balls.

By the time it was time for drinks, Australia had scored 76 runs in the first 10 overs, with openers Alyssa Healy scoring 38 and Beth Mooney scoring individual scores of 36.

Australia completed their first 100 runs in 84 balls and with this both the openers also completed the 100-run partnership for the first wicket.

With this 100 runs, batsman Alyssa Healy completed her 50 runs. Healy completed his half-century in 38 balls and for this he hit 6 fours and a six.

Opener Beth Mooney also brought up her century in the 15th over, reaching her half-century in 50 balls with the help of six fours.

Australia reached the target of 113 without losing a wicket in 15.5 overs, Alyssa Healy scoring 54 and Beth Mooney remaining unbeaten on 56.
