The Sixth match of the Women’s T20 World Cup was played at Boland Park (Paarl) today.  Ireland captain Laura Delany won the toss today and elected to bat first.

Ireland started well batting first, but lost their last 7 wickets in just 25 runs.
Ireland’s team could not even play the full 20 overs and their entire team was all out after scoring 104 runs in 18.2 overs.

England team batter Alice Capsey, who came to achieve the target of 106 runs, dwarfed the target of 106 runs by batting fast and achieved the target of victory in 14.2 overs by losing only 6 wickets.

England batter Alice Capsey was awarded the Player of the Match award for her blistering innings, scoring a brilliant 51 off just 22 balls with ten fours and a six.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Ireland’s team started well, losing only one wicket in the first power play and scoring 42 runs.

Ireland’s team completed their 50 runs in 7.5 overs and after 10 overs, Ireland’s score was 67 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

But after that Ireland kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not build any big partnerships. This was the reason that their entire team was all out for 105 runs in 18.2 overs.

Gaby Lewis top-scored with 36, while Orla Prendergast contributed 17 and Amy Hunter contributed 15 runs.

Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn took three wickets each for England. Apart from them, Charlotte Dean got 2 wickets, Lauren Bell and Katherine Sciver Brunt got 1–1 wickets.

Chasing a target of 106, England did not get off to a good start, losing their first wicket in the very first over in the form of Dunkley.

But after that Alice Capsey’s quick batting ruined all the hard work of Ireland. England team completed their first 50 runs in just 29 balls and scored 69 runs losing only one wicket till the end of the powerplay.

Daniel Wyatt and Alice Capsey added 66 runs in just 33 balls for the second wicket and brought the team to the threshold of victory.

Alice Capsey was dismissed for 51 as the second wicket, playing just 22 balls and hitting 10 fours and a six.

Her fiery innings can be gauged from the fact that in his innings of 51 runs, she got 46 runs from the boundary.

England lost a few more wickets after the dismissal of Alice Capsey, but achieved the target of 106 runs in 14.2 overs losing 6 wickets.

For Ireland, Cara Murray took three wickets, besides Orla Prendergast and Arlene Kelly took one wicket each.

Ireland’s middle order got failed

Ireland’s top order batted well and the team’s score reached 80 runs.

Ireland’s only 2 wickets fell for 80 runs but the Irish middle order completely disintegrated as soon as Gabby Lewis was dismissed. Ireland’s team could not even play the full 20 overs and were all out for 105 runs in 18.2 overs.
