The Sri Lankan batting time from 50th onwards, saw a strange sight when Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka needed 5 runs in the last over to reach his century and the Indian team did not want him to complete the century.
Mohammed Shami came in to bowl 50 overs and captain Dasun Shanaka was on strike.
1st Ball: On the first ball, Shanaka played a shot towards long on and ran for 2 runs quickly.
2nd Ball: The second ball fell on the yorker length and hit the pads of Shanaka. This ball was seen going outside the leg stump but captain Rohit Sharma referred to the third umpire.
The third umpire immediately ruled in favor of the batsman and declared him not out.
3rd Ball: Captain Sanaka took a single by playing the third ball towards third man. Now Captain Shanaka was on a individual score of 98 runs and he needed only 2 runs to complete the century but Kasun Rajitha was now on strike.
The Indian team did not want Captain Shanaka to complete his century, so when Rajitha came on strike on the third ball, Captain Rohit Sharma called all his 11 fielders within 30 yards so that Rajita could not take a single and Captain Sanaka could not get on strike.
Now another interesting incident was seen while throwing the fourth ball.
4th Ball: As soon as Mohammed Shami started to bowl, he saw Captain Shanaka coming out of the crease, so he scattered the stumps on the non-strike before throwing the ball.
The field umpire immediately referred to the third umpire to check whether Shanaka is out or not. But captain Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami showed good sportsman spirit and refused to do this to the on-field umpire.
