India won the toss and decided to bat first. Coming to bat, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a good start. Both scored runs while maintaining a run rate of around 7.5 with the bat.

In the sixth over of the match, both the batsmen badly washed Lahiru Kumara and scored 23 runs in this over, which included Rohit’s 1 six and Shubhman Gill’s brilliant 4 fours. By the end of the first power play (10 overs), India scored 75 runs without losing a wicket.

Rohit Sharma batted very cautiously in the beginning but when his eyes were set on the wicket, then he started batting freely and hit three brilliant sixes in his innings.

Rohit Sharma missed out on completing his half-century and was dismissed for a personal score of 42 runs. Both the openers put together a brisk partnership of 95 runs.

Shubhman Gill’s Half Century –

After Rohit’s dismissal, Virat Kohli came on the field and started leading the innings with Shubman. Meanwhile, Shubhman Gill completed his half-century in the 19th over. He completed 50 runs in 52 balls.

Both the batsmen were pushing the score at a run rate above 6. The 50-run partnership between the two was completed in the 23rd and by then the team’s score was 149 for one wicket.

Virat Kohli’s Half Century & Shubhman Gill’s Century –

Virat Kohli completed his half-century by taking 1 run on the 5th ball of the 31st over, while on the last ball of 31st over, Shubhman Gill also completed his century.

Virat Kohli completed his half-century in 48 balls. This was his 65th ODI half-century while Shubman Gill completed his century in 87 balls. This was Shubman Giil’s second ODI century, before that he had scored a century against Zimbabwe. By the end of 31, India’s total had increased by one wicket to 202.

IND vs SL 3rd ODI: 2nd Wicket- Both the players were batting well, but then in the 34th over, Shubhman Gill was clean bowled by Kasun Rajita. Shubman Gill played a brilliant inning today and scored 116 runs. After 34 overs, India’s total was 226 for 2 and Virat Kohli was at the crease after scoring 59 runs.

After the dismissal of Shubman, Shreyas Iyer came to play as a batsman and both the teams started scoring.

Virat Kohli’s Century –

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli completed his century in the 43rd over. This was his 46th ODI and overall 74th international century. Virat completed this century in just 85 balls.

After 45 overs, India’s total score was 332 for 2 wickets. After completing the century, Virat Kohli hit a series of fours and sixes.

In the 45th over both the batsmen scored a total of 19 runs. Together they scored 58 runs in 5 more overs in 40–45 overs.

IND vs SL 3rd ODI: 3rd Wicket- Lahiru Kumara got India’s third wicket in the 46th over. Shreyas Iyer was caught by substitute fielder Dhananjay de Silva, hitting Lahiru Kumar’s short length ball over the covers.

Shreyas got out after scoring 38 runs in 32 balls and shared a partnership of 108 runs in just 71 balls with Virat.

IND vs SL 3rd ODI: 4th Wicket- KL Rahul, who came after the departure of Shreyas Iyer, could not do much and was dismissed soon. He was caught by substitute fielder wellalage at deep mid-wicket on the fifth ball of Lahiru Kumara’s 48th over.

However, he also got a lifeline on the third ball of the same over. Captain Shanaka dropped a tough catch at mid-off. But Rahul could not take advantage of it.

IND vs SL 3rd ODI: 5th Wicket- Surya Kumar, who came after KL Rahul, also got out in the 49th over. He returned to the pavilion by catching Kasun Rajita’s slower ball at deep extra cover in the hands of Avishka Fernando.
