Today the Third Match of T20 Tri Series was played between India and West Indies women team at Buffalo Park ground in East London.
India won the toss and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur decided to bat first.
The Indian team came out to play first and scored 167 runs losing 2 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs and gave West Indies a target of 168 runs.
Chasing the target of 168 runs, the West Indies team could score only 140 runs and got all out. India won this match by 56 runs.

Smriti Mandhana was given the Player of the Match award for her excellent batting. Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 74 off 51 balls and also hit 10 fours and a six in her innings.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who was not available in the first match, was replaced by Sneha Rana in the Indian team.

Electing to bat first, openers Yastika Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana got India off to a good start. Both had scored 30 runs in the first 5 overs of the powerplay without losing any wicket.

Meanwhile, Harmanpreet also got a lifeline. On the fourth ball of the 14th over, Sabika Gajnabi bowled a short pitch to Harmanpreet which Harmanpreet tried to cut but the ball went to wicketkeeper Rashada Williams taking the edge of the bat. Rashada could not collect the ball properly and dropped the catch.
In the 15th over, the Indian team completed its 100 runs. After 15 overs, the score was 103 for 2 wickets and the Indian team had reached a very strong position at this time.
India still had 8 wickets in hand and India could now afford to score quick runs. Meanwhile, on the third ball of 16th overs, Mandhana completed her half-century by hitting a four. In this over, Mandhana hit a total of 3 fours and scored 14 runs.

IND VS WI Women’s 3rd Match: First Wicket – Chasing 168 runs, the West Indies team had a very poor start. Opener Brittany Cooper was run out for zero in the second over of the match. India’s senior player Radhika Sharma got him out LBW and showed the way to the pavilion.

A lot of effort was made from the Indian side to break this pair. Total 6 bowlers were used by India, but the Indian bowlers failed to break the pair.
After 15 overs, the West Indies team’s score was 81 for 3 and West Indies still needed 87 runs to win. To achieve this, the Windies had to score runs at the required run rate of 18.
