What is Women’s Premiere League?
Women’s Premier League is an event initiated by BCCI, which is going to be launched in 2023 and is playing a vital role in promoting women empowerment in the field of cricket. Hundreds of women players associated with cricket from all over the world had applied to participate in this league, out of which 84 women players were selected through auction.
A total of 5 teams are currently participating in the Women’s Premier League, they are:–

UP Warriors
Mumbai Indians
Gujarat Giants
Delhi Capitals
When is Women’s Premiere League (WPL 2023) starting?
The league will start on the evening of 4th March and the first match will be between Gujarat giants and Mumbai Indians on 4th March itself, where both the teams will play at Dr. will face each other at the DY Patil Stadium.
The WPL was announced in January this year and the player auction ended in the first week of February. Soon after the auction, the WPL schedule was announced, stating that the first edition of WPL will start in March and the event will run from March 4 to March 26.
How many matches will be played in WPL 2023?
A total of 22 matches will be played in the first edition of WPL, in which 20 league matches and 2 knockout matches will be played. One match in the knockout matches will be an eliminator match and the other match will be the final match of WPL 2023.
How many matches will each team play?
Total 5 teams are participating in the first edition of WPL and each team will play 2 matches with other 4 teams. Thus, each team will play a total of 8 matches and the team topping the points table will directly qualify for the final. The second and third placed teams in the points table will advance to the Eliminator round and will play each other. The team that wins the Eliminator match will advance to the final and will play the final match with the team that has already reached the final.
