WPL Auction 2023: Smrithi Mandhana become the costliest player of Women’s Premier League History

Most of the big players have bid on the first day of the Women’s Premier League 2023 auction going on in Mumbai today. At the time of writing the article, a total of 40 players out of 409 selected players were bid in the auction and 48 players did not find any buyer.

India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana has become the costliest player in the first edition of wpl so far, she has been included in their team by Royal Challenge Bangalore with a bid of 3.4 crores.

In today’s auction, Royal Challenge Bangalore and Mumbai Indians bought 6-6 players, Gujarat Giants 9, UP Warriors 12 and Delhi Capitals bought a total of 7 players and included them in their respective teams.

Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner and England’s all-rounder Nat Sciver Brunt, who have jointly become the second most expensive player and the most expensive overseas player in WPL 2023. The both players were bid for 3.2 crores each and bought by Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians respectively.

India’s Deepti Sharma has been bought by UP Warriors for 2.60 crores, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma by Delhi Capitals for 2.2 crores and 2.0 crores respectively.

Although Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur got a much lower price than all these players, she was bought by Mumbai Indians for 1.8 crores.
